Can't believe that it is December already. Christmas will be here before we know it. To get into the festive feeling, the theme for the last baking club meeting of 2013 is Christmas Crackers.
The meeting will take place on Thursday 12th December 6-8pm in Reuben's Wine Store, Dunfermline.
Unlike
other cake clubs, there are no rules. So whether your preference is
cake, biscuit, muffins or bread, you are welcome here. You don't need to
be an expert baker to join in, just a love of baking.
If you would like to join me for cake, coffee and chat, please email fifebakingclub@gmail.com with your name and what you will be baking by Friday 6th December.

Fife Baking Club - Breakthrough Breast Cancer 17th October
Sorry it has taken so long to provide a write up after the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity even on the 17th October but I've had the dreaded lurgy for the past 8 weeks and haven't had the energy to switch on my lap top.
The charity event was a big success with loads of delicious bakes being provided by our bakers for the evening. Reubens was bursting at the seems with more than 30 people (bakers and eaters) in attendance.
As well as the cakes, there was a charity raffle including prizes donated from the following local businesses:
Fife Leisure Centres
Eastern Buffet
Grill 48
Ceramic Experience
The evening raised £300 but this was doubled to £600 with the matched funding received from my work.

Fife Baking Club - Breakthrough Breast Cancer 17th October
As October is national Breast Cancer awareness month, Fife Baking
Club will be holding a special evening on Thursday 17th October in aid
of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Can you please email fifebaking club@gmail.com by the 1st October if you would like to attend the event and roughly how many 'eaters' you will be bringing along so I can let Reubens know the numbers well in advance.
I will contact all bakers nearer the date to find out what goodies they will be bringing.
You can now follow us on Twitter @fifebakingclub and on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/FifeBakingClub

To raise funds for this deserving charity, bakers will be
asked to donate £3 for this bake and invite non-bakers i.e. eaters who
can come along on the evening to eat as much cake as they so wish for
£5. Bakers and eaters will have to purchase their own refreshments.
There will be no theme as such, just delicious bakes for all to enjoy.

Fife Baking Club - Chocolate Heaven 29th August
Indulged too much over the summer holidays? Me too.
Before the diet starts again and the countdown to Christmas begins, lets beat the depression with a chocolate themed bake.
The meeting will take place on Thursday 29th August 6-8pm in Reuben's Wine Store, Dunfermline.

The Great Abderdour Bake Off - 1st August 2013
I was invited along to The Great Aberdour Bake Off on the 1st August to represent Fife Baking Club. Fortunately I didn't have the pressure of having to participate in the bake off and was able to enjoy the day.
There was a great turn out of cakes which were judged by last year's Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite and Mrs Lonie from Aberdour. Whilst John and Mrs Lonie tasted the cakes, we were treated to a bread making demo by Colin from Bread In Fife.
The six finalists were then given 20 minutes to make a batch of icing using various ingredients provided. During this time, host Susan Rae interviewed John. When the six contestants had made their icing, they were then tasked with icing a cake in front of everyone. Well done to Fiona Martin who was crowned the winner. She turned a boring square sponge into a chocolate heart covered in chocolate sweets.
There was also a macaroon demonstration by the Head Chef from the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews. The audience were given some very delicious samples to try.
To round of the day, the audience were also given taster plates from the competition entries. I tried a fruit cake, chocolate cake and coffee cake. All three were very tasty.
Mini me's favourite part of the day though was when John Whaite fed her skittles from the top of one the cakes.
